Saraylı (Ottoman) Collection: Uniting Tradition and Modernity

Bringing Ottoman Style to the Modern Bathroom

Çanakkale Seramik’s Saraylı (Ottoman) Collection strives to unite the traditional and modern lines and reinterpret palace motifs with hundreds of years of history with the characteristics of Ottoman style.

The new Saraylı Collection, designed by K.I.D (Kale Design & Innovation) for Kaleseramik A.S., aims to bring the magnificence of Ottoman decoration to modern bathrooms. The collection, comprised of ceramic tiles and bathroom furniture, offers an integrated bath experience that appeals to a wide range of users.

The collection features two series: "Birun" and "Enderun." The "Birun" series combines the simple texture of marble with gold details, creating a modern approach to the traditional gold mosaics found in Ottoman palaces. The "Enderun" series draws inspiration from the robes, tulips, and chintemani figures of the presentation room in the inner part of the Ottoman palace. It incorporates elements from fancy jewels and textile fabric to create a luxurious and unique bathroom experience.

What sets the Saraylı Collection apart is its attention to detail and the integration of modern design elements. For example, the furniture includes textile drawer interiors, a feature commonly used in the furniture industry but rarely seen in bathroom decor. The collection also incorporates glass counter applications to minimize water waste and hidden yellow LED lighted mirror details to create a consistent language and style in the bath area.

The realization of the Saraylı Collection involves the use of high-quality materials and meticulous color coordination. The ceramic tile series includes 1st firing base tiles and molded 3rd firing decor tiles. The bathroom furniture set consists of a lower cabinet, mirror, and long cabinet, all designed with specific dimensions to fit seamlessly into any bathroom space.

The Saraylı Collection was first exhibited in the Unicera Fair in Istanbul, after a design process that started in August 2011 and concluded in March 2012. The project involved extensive research into Ottoman culture, including visits to museums, palaces, and historical places. The design team, led by Sertaç Ersayın, Özgür Alp, Gözde Tüfekçi Mercan, Fatih Mintaş, and Funda Kılıç Palaz, successfully combined the traditional elements of Ottoman style with modern design solutions to create a collection that is both accessible and luxurious.

The Saraylı Collection has been recognized for its excellence and innovation, receiving the Silver A' Design Award in the Bathroom Furniture and Sanitary Ware Design category in 2013. This prestigious award acknowledges the collection's outstanding expertise, strong technical characteristics, and remarkable level of excellence.
